Film Distribution

Film Distribution

JUNO11 Pictures debuted as a film distributor in 2019 with the distribution of its feature film drama CURTIZ, which won the Grand Prix des Americas at the 42nd Montreal World Film Festival. Based on the success of CURTIZ (Netflix Film) and our passion for film, after cinemas reopened, we continued to build this aspect of our business with the distribution of the drama Heights and Depths, which, according to the feedback from both audiences and the industry, we’ve done outstandingly.

As a boutique distributor we aim to broaden the Hungarian movie scene with 4-6 films and unconventional communication strategies each year. Currently, we are preparing the distribution of two Hungarian feature films and a Hungarian-Italian coproduction. This year, we are also bringing international feature films to Hungarian audiences.

ROVING WOMAN

ROVING WOMAN

2022, Los Angeles. Sara is kicked out of her home by her fiancé, “Hollywood’s almost-famous hottie”. The devastated woman sets off in a stolen car to find not only a new home, but also herself. Alone and penniless, she travels the roads, meeting interesting strangers who, like her, are searching for their place in the world. As she wanders aimlessly, but free, the objects found in the car are attracting her interest to the owner of the stolen car, so she finally decides to look for him. The road movie is inspired by the mysterious disappearance of American singer Connie Converse.

The Roving Woman was directed by Michal Chmielewski and written by Lena Góra and Michal Chmielewski. Photographed by Lukasz Dziedzic. Produced by Wim Wenders, Orian Williams, Edouard Brault and Lena Góra. The main roles are played by Lena Góra, John Hawkes, Chris Hanley, Brian McGuire, Ed Mattiuzzi, Bear Badeaux and Chrystal Rivers. The film will be distributed by JUNO11 Distribution and will be released in Hungarian cinemas from 27 July 2023.

The Cinematographer

The Cinematographer

The Cinematographer is an innovative, niche memorial film about János Tóth, a legendary figure of Hungarian cinema. The film recalls the exceptional personality of the “poet of light”, the Kossuth Prize-winning filmmaker and Artist of the Nation, who died in 2019, and the most important stages of his life’s work, using more and longer film clips than usual – and now digitally restored.

The documentary was edited by Gábor Medvigy and Csaba Bollók, produced by Gábor Ferenczy and András Muhi. The film is narrated by Piroska Molnár, and features contributions from composer Péter Eötvös, film historian Gábor Gelencsér, cinematographer Sándor Kardos, composer László Vidovszky and János Tóth’s partner Judit Soltész. The film was produced by Focusfox with the support of the National Film Institute. The film is distributed by JUNO11 Distribution through event-based screenings in Hungarian cinemas from 31 May 2023.
