Blue Pelikan

Blue Pelikan

The Blue Pelikan is the first feature-length animated film to recall recent Hungarian history with wry humor and in a documentary style. The animated film is made in the style of American indie films with artistic rigor. The frenzy of freedom of the late eighties and early nineties, the mood of expectation of the time of the regime change, is reflected in László Csáki’s animation with its dry humor, strong and distinctive imagery. The director has spent years interviewing people whose lives were transformed by the fateful experience of traveling internationally on forged train tickets written in Blue Pelikan indigo.

The Blue Pelikan is written and directed by László Csáki, produced by Ádám Felszeghy and Miklós Kázmér (Umbrella), co-produced by Réka Temple (Cinemon), with the support of the National Film Institute. The characters are designed by Máté Horesnyi, the composer is Ambrus Tövisházi and the editor is Dániel Szabó.
